I have to admit that as of right now, I don't think these belong here, so for now I am keeping these talks on Patreon so I can experiment more freely. Too many rules and particulars. Art is about feeling. If it feels right, do it. Stop asking yourself questions.

During the pandemic, id often crack a beer open, look out my window and listen to eckhart tolle. I had just started having experiences of mild … ‘transcendence (?)’ around that time. Once time though, I had an extremely power feeling that I was emitting a magnetic field of sorta and it rippled through the space around me. It felt like the space and air around me was almost tangible and viscous. It was really remarkable but these experiences would sometimes end badly because my coping mechanisms for life would were not advanced enough to deal with views or experiences from that higher point of view coming back down to dysfunction. Really appreciate your video and you discussing these things, love your drawing meditations too! It’s so fascinating 😭😭😭😭😭 As the Buddha said, ‘the mind precedes all knowables’

I started experiencing something with my drawing practice. I did a study of a sphynx statue from a photo, and also a master study of a Claire Wendling drawing of a sphynx. I try to use brush pen and start making rhythmic lines while still feeling anxious about drawing from imagination, the nervous energy starts to coalesce into something. This one became a sphynx with a mane where the human and feline bodies conjoin. I would describe the sensation of drawing in this state and the drawing itself to be effervescent, the drawing looks like it's fizzing on the page, vibrating. This feeling is still different and distinct from the flow state. I would say music sometimes can trigger that flow state but it is charactized by a sensation of being in the moment or time slows down, a fluid enjoyment of the drawing. I can see the mistakes afterwards in the drawing and can see what I actually need to work on in terms of technique or anatomy.

Amazing videos, I've been watching them a lot lately but I go to your twt and everything there is you constantly crying about AI taking away your job. Pretty sad to know you're that close minded while fancying yourself as an art guru, is just another medium kid, times change, people felt the same way you do about AI rn when photography started to be a thing, think about it a little bit, maybe it will help to grow your social, its pretty off putting when such an eloquent person is a trainwreck on twt

I'm still mad at the guy who won first place in a art contest with "his" AI art, somehow beating everyone else who've spent hours or days to get their piece finish, just to later lose to a man who types a few words and gets his relusts in seconds. The judges were even worse, they've found nothing wrong with the work he submitted and loved what his "art". Pathetic

Okay, this is straight up strawmanning. Talking about training novels, the question goes about difference between AI and artists using publicly available images for training. You start going about how it's using copyrighted works and that "your data is in there". This is straight up nonsense, first of all. There is nothing illegal or immoral about "learning" from something, and nothing actually gets memorized like you imply. AI models do not remember anything about the data. They build statistical models of the world through examples and descriptions. The only cases where it may "remember" something specific is when it's had numerous copies, in which case anyone would involuntarily remember it. In fact, AI models DO NOT EVEN TAKE IN YOUR DATA. That's true. They never get access to the picture itself, only the single number representative of how wrong they are in their guess. They are trained to guess! That's how it works. The only model that can actually "remember" things are autoencoders, and only in generalized way. Not to mention that image generators by design randomly sample latent space, so all images with unique seed are unique, no matter how closely you describe them to original training data. Anyway, you went off from the wrong statement, and the rest of the argument is wasted on completely unrelated things. What does people who collect data have to do with technology in question? Because that's not an excuse to bash cook for bad farmer. Seriously, can't trust and artist to honestly talk about things like AI. It's never objective.

I don't even know what to say right now except thank you, and that it is infinitely fascinating to be us. The more I can integrate this knowing with the energy of creation within me, the more I think energy for creating will re-saturate my experience. I wish we could have a round-table with artists who are trying to know more about what art is and what it's purpose is for us, especially as creation's fundamental role in our lives is being hijacked.
